HRBKA’s honey show is part of the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show.

We are looking for a bumper crop of entries this year and have organised two show judges as we were advised last year that we had too many entries for just one judge!

We have provisionally booked the Pavilion on the Yorkshire showground for an evening meeting on Friday 16^th August. This is to give members the opportunity to learn some tips and techniques for showing their wax/honey/cakes/frames. The meeting will only take place if there is sufficient interest. Please reply if you wish to attend. Confirmation of the meeting taking place or not will be sent out on Thursday 15^th August.  Examples of the good and the bad and the ugly will be available for you to see.

Remember there are two classes for novices, one for honey which requires only a single jar and one for just 5 wax blocks. Any beekeeper who has managed to get a beautiful frame of honey from their bees can borrow one of the association frame cases to exhibit it (see below). This class has been won on a number of occasions by novice beekeepers because they have new frames and the bees work them really well.

Remember even if you have not managed to extract any wax or honey this year you can still enter the photographic or cakes and confectionery classes.

1oz wax block moulds (rectangular shape only)
Candlewick (in a variety of sizes)
The Association has several frame cases available for loan – national brood and national super sizes (on a first come first served basis from Claro Bees shop)
