Beekeeping Taster Days for Beginners

If you have ever thought of keeping your own bees, but are unsure how to start, or if you are wondering what is involved and how much it will cost, but are unsure how you will react to being close up and personal with real live bees then attending a Taster Day could be the answer.

The Day is intended to provide adults or young people (age 16+) with an insight into bees and beekeeping by means of talks, demonstrations and as much practical beekeeping as time and weather allow. If the Taster Day inspires you to keep bees then we would recommend that you join your local Beekeeping Association (search the Internet for details), take a more in depth course and join the craft of beekeeping.

Each Taster Day will commence at 10.00am and conclude at about 4.30pm. The course fee includes tea and coffee throughout the day and a light buffet lunch. Protective jackets and gloves will be provided on loan and you will need loose fitting trousers and Wellington boots or stout walking shoes/boots.

Taster Days will be held in 2019 at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Crag Lane, Harrogate, HG3 1QB.
